Schools and Libraries News Brief dated September 2 – Form 500
The SLD's News Brief for September 2, 2011, discusses the use of the Form 500. This is a multi-purpose form that may be used to:
- Alert USAC of the change in the service start date.
- Alert USAC to the change (usually the extension) of the contract expiration date (see the previous week's News Brief).
- Reduce the funding on an FRN.
- Cancel the funding on an FRN.
It should be noted that reducing or canceling an FRN, when funding is not needed, is not a required step. But it does make that funding immediately available for other applicants — and in our view qualifies applicants for good E-rate citizenship awards.
